Preschool Object Box - Calendar Reference

In order to help the children know what the letter is for the Object Box each week, we will place the Letter of the Week on each Monday of the calendar. This makes it easy for you all to refer to, so that you can bring in objects for the box.

Transport in the Tuatara Room

The Tuatara children have been showing an interest in transport lately. The teachers have been providing a variety of activities in relation to transport.
We are going to have a truck visit the centre for the children to see. We are also having a Bike Day at Bayfield on Thursday 7th February. Could all the children attending Bayfield on that day please bring their bikes and helmets.

Preschool letter of the week

Dear Preschool parents

In our Weka Room (new name for Preschool) we would like to reintroduce the “object box”. Every Monday there will be a new letter for the week. The letter of the week will be written on the white board. We would like to encourage you to allow your children to bring objects in to share in our object box that begin with the letter of the week. When the children bring objects to share for the object box this gives them a sense of belonging and teaches them about respect for other’s property.

This changes weekly on a Monday. Come and check it out!

Sad News For The Preschool

We had some bad news after our holiday. Our friends, Daisy, Jack, Salt, Pepper and Silver (our fish) decided to stay with their friend, Oriana in her big fish pond. Luckily for us Pepper and Silver wanted to come back to us after the holidays. If you look in our fish tank though you will only see Silver. Unfortunately Pepper passed away. The transition group helped to bury him in the garden and made Silver feel better by decorating her tank. Karen is going to get some more friends for Silver so watch this space!Posted by Picasa

The New Weka Room - Preschool

Welcome to the new look "Weka Room!" The Kiwis and the Tuis have joined together to make one big room with the help of our new archway. Now all of the children are able to freely choose any activity with all of the equipment available to them. They are also able to develop new friendships with all of the Wekas and learn more about looking after others, gaining confidence and a sense of responsibility. Everyone is enjoying this!!

Welcome back everyone

Welcome back to all the parents, children and families to Bayfield. We are experiencing some extremely warm weather at the moment. Can you all please be aware of the important sun safety messages that we are trying to teach the children. Ensure your child comes with an appropriate sun resistant hat and clothing that covers the tops of their shoulders (no singlet tops or thin strapped dresses please. We always give the children sunscreen when they go outside and water is available to them. In the Preschool at the water fountain and in the Babies and Toddlers areas we provide water bottles or cups of water on a regular basis.

Be aware of the dangers of exposure to the sun and please remember to slip on a shirt, slap on a hat and slop on some sunscreen.

Make Sure that all items of clothing, hats, shoes and all belongings (bottles etc) are clearly named. If you would like some details of a name labelling company please see Mona or Shona at the office.
